2nd Grade Keva Creations (Structures or Ball Tracks)
2nd Grade Students were focused on fulfilling particular challenges set out. The goal from each challenge was to learn some engineering principals from their own structures and each others and apply them in the next tasks.
Some example scenarios they faced...
To conclude our unit, students worked in their teams to create a structure or ball track that they creatively thought of and designed using the principals we learned.
Some example scenarios they faced...
- Build the tallest tower you can make in 3 minutes.
- Build the tallest tower with 10 blocks that can withstand a 3 second "earthquake." Now, the same task with 20 blocks.
- How long can you build a bridge (table support to table support distance).
- How far can you build out from the table with only 2 blocks touching the edge? (We called this the Road to Nowhere)
- Make a bridge with the largest spanning distance.
- Create a ball track that has the ball bounce on the table and then into a box-like structure
To conclude our unit, students worked in their teams to create a structure or ball track that they creatively thought of and designed using the principals we learned.
