5th Grade Keva Architectural Structures
In progress....Fifth Grade students studies the world of structural engineering as they faced many difficult challenges from creating the tallest structure balanced on one or two blocks on their ends to building as far out from the table as they could using counter balance and interlocking. They also explored building concepts such as creating domes and spheres. You will have to ask your student about our super fun surprise challenge. : )
Students then worked on copying different approaches to creating structures from how blocks are angled to develop walls and height to creating different types of roof structures to balancing structures in sound ways. To conclude our unit, teams selected a real world structure and then tried to recreate it using the blocks. This unit definitely pushed students with their creativity, engineering, patience, persistence, and problem solving skills...200 blocks went quickly.
So proud of what they were able to do!
